Foundation Hosts Generosity Webinar

On March 9, the United Methodist Foundation of Louisiana hosted a webinar with Rev. Ken Sloane of Discipleship Ministries, to help clergy and lay leaders be prepared for planned gifts from their members.

In this webinar, “Inviting Generosity Beyond the Sunday Offering” Sloane discusses gifts that won't necessarily come through the offering plate, such as a bequest, endowment, or gifts of property, stocks, or valuable collectibles.

Key take-aways from the webinar included the importance of having a planned giving program, strong communications and a break-down of the three pockets people give from. Sloane stressed the importance of having a year-long stewardship strategy that utilizes income, assets and legacy giving. He provided many resources to make it easy for any church to invite generosity beyond the Sunday offering.
