Foundation Welcomes New Leadership

BATON ROUGE, LA – The United Methodist Foundation of Louisiana is pleased to announce the election of three new members to its Board of Trustees: Michael Belanger, Michael Kearney and Sabrina Short. Their three-year terms will begin on June 1, 2026.

Belanger is President and Chief Operating Officer of Querbes & Nelson, a Marsh McLennan Insurance Agency in Shreveport and a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church there.

Kearney retired as an independent financial advisor and certified financial planner (CFP) with Pathway Advisors in Alexandria in 2022. He is a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Alexandria.

Short is a New Orleans-based community organizer, tech entrepreneur and founder/CEO of NOLAVATE Black, a platform and incubator dedicated to connecting Black tech talent with jobs and startup funding. She has served as a Youth Ministry Strategist for the Louisiana Annual Conference and is married to Rev. Kaseem Short, pastor of Thomas United Methodist Church in Kenner.

As the Foundation welcomes new leadership, it also offers deep gratitude to the trustees who are rotating off the board: Troy Searles of Baton Rouge and Joe Crouch of Alexandria.

Located in Baton Rouge, the United Methodist Foundation of Louisiana was founded in 1975 and serves United Methodist churches, institutions and individuals through planned giving education, financial management, loans and grants.  It is one of the largest United Methodist Foundations in the denomination, with $275 million in assets under management.
